I've been a programmer all my life. I started using a computer to program twenty years ago. I've been thinking about getting a "Born To Code" tattoo.
For the last 10 years I've been an independent consultant. I bill by the hour. I don't get vacations. I take vacations anyway.
I speak three or four computer languages on any given day.
I have open projects in C++, Visual Basic (6.0), and ABAP/4.
One of the best languages to program in is Delphi. Nobody wants to pay me for Delphi programming.
The hardest language to work in is English. I have yet to find a good syntax checker. And what compiles does not necessarily compute.
This is my first attempt at using Cascading Style Sheets to define a web page. Look at the source to see the styles I've used.
The orientation of the writting on a piece of paper does not make any difference to me. Turn a page bottom up and I can read it almost as fast as I can read it right side up. I don't do a bad job of reading through paper held up to the light. This has great advantages for reading documents on someone's desk.
My mustache is older than about half the bloggers i read.
People starting calling me J R (not junior) in the early eighties. Working in the airline industry, I transferred to Reno, Nevada. The name Jim was already assigned to another James so they started calling me J R as in "JR Ewing" of the then popular Dallas tv soap opera.
Now almost everyone calls me JR except my wife. It seems strange when she refers to me as JR.
Adios is the sum total of several formative years learning to speak Spanish. I keep trying to use code conversion techniques. That does not work.
I have homes in Illinois and Florida. Sounds impressive doesn't it. It would be if they were fancy homes.
Cotton is my fabric of choice. A pair of blue jeans and a cotton shirt are my standard apparel. I have dress jeans; ones that haven't faded.
I've lived in the Chicago area most of my life but have never lived in Chicago.
I've left Chicago before but have always come back because you can always find a job in Chicago.
