Common SenseYear Of Common Sense
I'm declaring 2004 the year of Common Sense. I would like you to ask your local, state and federal government officials to use common sense at least once during the year.
Of course I'm not holding out much hope. I'm beginning to think that anyone with common sense would not run for office in the first place.
Which bring me to the point of my disenfranchisement. I guess I am politically naive. I think of how government works as the Schoolhouse Rock version. The idea of a politician spending 10 hours begging for cash for each hour of legislating does not meet my idea of common sense or adding to the common good.
I would like to be able to support a candidate based on their principals and common sense. I'm going to have to make an effort to do some research into the candidates for President this year. I know who I'm not voting for (W). Now I'd like to apply some common sense principals to choosing a candidate. It's going to be an interesting year.

Yes, an interesting year. And challenging. And, no doubt, frustrating.

Will you please keep us posted on your findings? That's assuming you are able to find traces of common sense contained within the smoke leaking out of all our candidate's ears during the campaign year. Would you like a metal detector, to aid in your search? We have a new one we could lend you...
Ah, what a picture.
