But I'm feeling much better now.Out Of A Funk

September 22, 2004

Nothing cures a case of the Neutrals like music. Stumbled across a Movie Channel documentry tonight called Standing in the Shadows of Motown.

This acclaimed documentary charts the not-so-secret history of the Funk Brothers, an ensemble culled from the best of Detroit's jazz and blues scene by producer Berry Gordy in 1959 to back up the singers of his then-fledgling Motown label.

"What’s Going On" sung by Chaka Khan, backed by the Funk Brother is worth the price of admission! Watching guys as old as I am playing the licks they made famous with passion and style was the kick in the head I needed.

Then I discovered The Walter Trout Band on BetJazz. I have to remember that turning it up real loud is what it's all about.

Looking at the Walter Trout Band's schedule, you missed their engagement at the Blues Fest in Peoria, but I notice (not surprisingly) that those Brits sho' nuff do like they blues!
