FYILosing Confidence
I think I just bought my last HP printer. I have plenty of them around, 6 at the moment. There is nothing wrong with the hardware but the HP software that comes with the newer models doesn't work well with XP Home. I just bought a $400 printer/fax/scanner/copier and I've installed and removed the software and drivers from Mr. Peabody the Dell several times and am still having occasional software failures. I found a fix for some of the problems on HP's site and was able to fix the problem but to be honest the solution involved admin stuff that a normal, doesn't work with computers for a living guy, might not want to try.
And what is with all the software that they install? I did the custom don't install every program HP has ever written choice and still ended up with 300 meg of stuff. I guess that there are some people that only use their computers for sending pictures to HP Printers and nothing else but I use other software and please don't assume that I want your programs taking over my system.
Not that I plan on purchasing any more printers for a while but when the time comes I'll be looking in other directions.
