Weird WebStuffNaming Names

July 29, 2005

Naming a product is not a lot of fun. It's almost as bad as coming up with a new password every ninety days. Thank goodness software products don't have the same security paranoia requirements on them.

There has been some negative response to Microsoft naming it's latest (and late to market) operating system "Vista". Most comments seem to go:

Microsoft blah blah blah, Vista, Yawn. blah

I do think that while "Vista" may sound blah it did come from the company that named it's previous offerings "95", "98", "2000", and lets not forget "XP". As the automotive industry discovered it doesn't take long for the public to come up with some pretty bizarre acronyms (:FORD: Fix Or Repair Daily) and so will be the case for Microsoft Vista like... Well, I was going to put one in but I'm a nice guy so I won't.
