Soap BoxRaising A Flag
Just about two weeks ago was June 14th, also known as Flag Day. I don't remember a lot being said about it around the net. Meanwhile in the vacuum known as Congress a constitutional amendment is being raised to prohibit the burning of the American Flag. This I find curious. While the Executive Branch of the government is eroding the Constitutional rights of American Citizens by looking into their personal phone calls, internet activity, and bank statements, Congress is ignoring this disregard for the Constitution in order to add another amendment. Congress needs to make sure that the Constitution is being followed before going off on the symbolic fantasy that a flag burning prohibition is going to make any difference to the American public.
Update: The vote was one short of passing.
Note to Congress: Any attempt to amend the Constitution to limit the citizens of the U.S. is not a good thing. The Constitution was created to protect rights not restrict them.

What really confuses me is that the only legitimate method, according to the flag code, to dispose of the flag is to burn it.
