Unclear On ConceptEffective 09:00 CDT 11 April 2007
Effective 09:00 CDT 11 April 2007 I will no longer read any blog that does not have the "Code of Conduct" badge prominently displayed. I figure that 36 hours would be enough time for everybody to sign up and start conducting themselves to "code". At the same time I call for a commentors code of conduct because we all know that trolls don't necessarily have blogs. So you must present your credential along with your mothers maiden name and at least three references, one being from your priest, minister, or rabbi, before you will be allowed to leave a comment anywhere near my blog.
I will also be takeing it upon myself to have Dave Winer modify the specification for RSS to include this new code of conduct flag <codeofconduct>Yes</codeofconduct> so I can have Bloglines put in a filter so I will only be exposed to feeds that comply.
Orm I will just go on treating people as I expect to be treated myself, monitoring my blog, and reserving the right to remove any spam, off topic, or otherwise offensive twaddle with one swift click of the delete button. I just don't feel the need to stand up in front of the class and pledge a loyalty oath. Remember the one who is trying to blow up your body, bridge, town, city, country has no qualm about signing the loyalty oath.

jr, my good man... methinks you have taken leave of your senses with this abstruse rumination. Else this is another of your attempts at sarcastic levity.
Either way, I'm with shelley and cowtown pattie ... I don't need no stinking badges...
Seriously, folks, if that kind of crap caught on and grew legs, it would be the beginning of the end of blogging as we know it. Last time I checked, we still have the basic freedoms in this country. Dwindling, but still there. Which means I can write and read and comment as I wish. And the same for you. You don't like what I write? Then don't read it. Not because I haven't succumbed or subscribed to your brand of regulation, but because I cain't rite gud.

Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges...
(I wasn't the first to remember this little jewel in response to the hyperventilations in the blogsphere of late)
