Tech OverloadNot So Open Source
I get Open Source less and less. Everything to do with Open Source seems to be trying to actually get the open source to work. Today I spent half my afternoon trying to get some image process done in PHP. Only problem is that Apple's PHP as it is installed on MAC OX 10.5 (Leopard) does not include the graphics libraries. There doesn't seem to a way to add them with out playing with compliers and warnings like "back your system up first".
It appears to me that if you are doing web development you might occasionally want to do something with graphics. Why they wouldn't have the extensions, or a way to add them seems rather stupid to me.
I want to be developing web content not playing with command line make tools. I've been there, done that. Cripes.

That's funny, because I covered a lot of this with my new book on graphics.
Are you using Macports? I use that and I've got all of the graphics apps installed, including iMagick and GD.
