- And You Thought Your Neighborhood Was Bad Stuff: Wired has a dozen images taken by Hubble on the 18th birthday of the satellite. All of the images are of galaxies in the act of co-mingling. Something we don't have to worry about until the Milky Way Galaxy collides with Andromeda. The images are stunning.
- Yeah We'll Build A Fence, That's The Ticket Stuff: A $20 million dollar virtual fence along the US Mexico border does't work. A well planned out project:
Less than a week after Chertoff accepted Project 28 on Feb. 22, the Government Accountability Office told Congress it "did not fully meet user needs and the project's design will not be used as the basis for future" developments. A glaring shortcoming of the project was the time lag between the electronic detection of movement along the border and the transmission of a camera image to agents patrolling the area, the GAO reported.
It appears that it took the GAO less time to find fault with it than it took to catch anyone crossing the border. - Getting More Money To The Oil Industry Stuff: W announced that the tax rebates will be released next week. With the price of gasoline at $3.75 here at Noded North it becomes obvious that the rebates are a plan to take our tax money and hand it over to the Oil Industry. They should probably just eliminate the middle man and just send the checks to Big Oil. Meanwhile W is stockpiling Oil to keep the prices up.
- There Is Some Good Going On Stuff: Twitter friends Amy Guth with help from Leah Jones is putting on the Pilcrow Lit Fest in Chicago at the end of May. There is still room in the coffers for donations. Interesting mix of panels from what I can see.
