Quick update on the Slingbox I mentioned here. I've moved the slingbox out of the computer room and away from the router which meant I had to spring for the $80 Slingbox SlingLink. I now have the Slingbox next to the bedroom DVR cable box so I can record and play back shows at any time. The SlingLink does have on small gotcha in that it uses the power lines to pass the packets from the Slingbox and the router. You cannot use a power strip with any kind of build in line conditioning as it seems to filter out the Slingbox signal. I had to do some long none filtered extension cords because the wall power near the cable boxes were all taken with other stuff.

I've now got the Slingbox setup for remote connections. I was actually able to run it from IHOP Sunday morning using my Sprint EVDO USB modem. The image quality suffers some from the lower bandwidth of the cell modem being used from the middle of a building.
