The ArtsOZ - The Great and Powerful

February 24, 2013

We got to see an advanced screening of OZ - The Great and Powerful this evening at Epcot. Epcot has a large hidden room between Canada and Britain in the World Showcase. While the room is not a movie theater the Walt Disney World Blog put on quite a show for almost 600. I'm not sure how they did it but we got a really good quality screening of the movie in 3D in a multi-use space. The Disney crew did a nice job of keeping order.

The movie itself was quite enjoyable. While I am not a real fan of 3D because of having to wear two pairs of glasses, the Real3D experience was better than expected. The glasses fit well over my regular glasses and were not really in the way. I have to admit that after seeing this movie in 3D I'm not sure I would want to see it in regular 2D.

The movie itself was well imagined. While there wasn't thick with substance it was very entertaining. In the end it was a Disney movie (produced by Jerry Bruckheimer who also did the pirates movie). The movie will be released to the general public on March 8th so I'm not going to go too much into plot etc.

I do think this is a movie that the family can enjoy and I do recommend seeing it in 3D. My thanks to the Disney World Blog for including me in the showing.
